As of Wednesday Dec 7, There was an average of 13-15″ on the ground in the Winter Park area with many of the Backcountry “trails” well covered in the Fraser Valley. Idlewild and the Experimental Forest are good bets for local tours. Venturing off trail continues to be a risky proposition if any descending is to be done, as the foot-deep snow has not had time to consolidate into a supportive base. You will find no protection from sub-surface stumps, rocks. logs and other various snow-mines that are hidden by the combination of multiple light snowfalls with light winds. The snow continues to fall outside, and the Winter Wonderland Paradise that is Winter Park and environs is there for the enjoyment of anyone with the ambition to go out and break some trail.
Happy Trails!
