Grand County Nordic Race Series 2026
The 4th annual Grand County Nordic Race Series
Great Races in Great Places!
Grand County Nordic Ski Racing is putting on 8 Nordic races, both skate and classic, with long and short course options. This is your chance to participate no matter your age, gender, or ability. There are even kid and family options. Pick your race or participate in the series, progressively increasing your distance to the series final at the Snow Mountain Stampede. Save on entry fees when you sign up for the whole series. It’s like getting 8 races for the price of 6!
Points will be awarded for each event completed. You may participate in as many or as few events as your schedule permits. Points from all events completed within the category you signed up for will count towards your overall series standing. Overall series prizes for male and female in each distance will include a free entry into the next year’s GCNRS.
There will be 8 events spread from January to March 2026. Each event will offer a “long course, short course, and a 3k junior course (12 and under)”. The Snow Mountain Stampede and the Devil’s Thumb Stagecoach may offer additional distances that won’t be included as “points races” for the series.
There are 3 great partner venues that will host the events! This is one of our main fundraisers for youth Nordic programs in Grand County. If you would like to be involved but don’t want to race, there will be plenty of opportunities through the winter. Come watch the racers in your family from a great vantage point – that of a volunteer! Find the online volunteer sign-up form for each race below once sign up opens for the races.

Registration Details
Additional fees: PayPal charges 3.49% + $0.30 per transaction. The registration platform, Webscorer, charges an additional $1 fee per paid entry. So the total fees are 3.49% + $1.30 for each entry. These processing fees will be added to the entry fee paid by the participant.
You may sign up for the entire series until the first event. Registration for each event closes the day of the race. The registration fee increases one week prior to the event, so sign up early.
Proceeds to benefit Grand Nordic Club youth Nordic ski programs and scholarship funds!

Categories: Overall Male and Female along with age group categories.
** Entries are non-refundable donations to Grand Nordic Club supporting youth Nordic Ski Scholarships.
** Entries are non-transferable.
** You may sign up through the end of series. However the series price will not be prorated if entered after events have occurred.
** Events that a registrant does not participate will result in a 0 point value being recorded.

Grand Nordic Short Skate Race, GCNRS #1 - January 10, 2026
Venue: Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic trails; Race HQ will be in the Camper’s Hub building
Event: Skate, Long Course 15k, Short Course 7.5k, Junior 3k.
Course: Challenging 7.5 km loop that will test your early season fitness!
Start Time: 11am
Registration: Closes day of event

- Junior 3k: $10

Snow Mountain Classic, GCNRS #2 - January 11, 2026
Venue: Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic trails; Race HQ will be in the Camper’s Hub building
Event: Classic, Long Course 15km, Short Course 7.5km, Junior 3km
Course: Some long hills that will require pacing, fast descents and maybe a moose or two! The event will be based out of the new “campers hub building” adjacent to the Nordic center.

Stagecoach Classic, GCNRS #3 - February 8, 2026
Originally scheduled for January 24, the Stagecoach Classic has been rescheduled to February 8th.
Venue: Devil’s Thumb Ranch Nordic trails
Event: Classic, Long Course 30k, Short Course 15k, Junior course 3k
Course: Anticipate a fun challenging course! The 30km skiers will do two 15km laps. The course consists of beautiful rolling terrain. Elite skiers have been known to double pole the whole race. It’s always a “top shelf” experience at DTR. We look forward to seeing you there!

Event: Skate, Long Course 30k, Short Course 15k, Junior 3k.
Course: Look forward to a challenging technical course! The 30km racers will complete 2 laps of a challenging 15km course that includes approximately 1000 feet of climbing per lap.

Granby Ranch Skate Race, GCNRS #6 - February 28, 2026
Venue: Nordic trails at Granby Ranch Golf Course. Race headquarters will be at the golf club house.
Event: Skate, Long Course 15km, Short Course 7.5km, Junior 3k.
Course: The 15km participants will complete 2 laps of a 7.5km course. The is rolling and technical with lots of little ups and downs and turns. This course is all about carrying speed through changing terrain. It’s very fast and fun skiing!

Course: Fun, challenging courses that showcase the world class skiing and beauty of Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic! The 50km course will be 2 laps of a 25km loop.
