With the women’s festival in the books, that concludes our events for this winter. It was another great year with big turnouts at the races, new awards, fun swag, unicorns, and lots of sequins. I’m always nervous about the weather come December, but thankfully that the weather cooperated for most of the year, though I’ll be talking with Mother Nature about her picking on our 1st Timer weekend two years in a row.
This season we had the largest number of new (or new to the position) race chiefs that I can remember in a long time and I would like to thank those people for jumping in to make our races possible. And thank yous also go out to our experienced chiefs for your mentoring and keeping our events running smoothly. Our chiefs are the most visible of our volunteers, but I also want to highlight our growing list of behind the scenes volunteers who make sure that we’re ready to race and help to answer your questions. The team we’ve dubbed the competition office clears up problems with registrations and makes sure everyone has their waiver and membership in order. Without those items checked off we would not be able to race so a big thank you to Jennifer, Amy, Tom, Yoni, Martha, and Meredith. I’d also like to thank Chalsey for helping respond to the many emails the club receives during the season. An email is often the first contact we have with people curious about the sport and being able to offer a personal response makes our club that much more welcoming and helps us grow.
That’s all for now, and watch for an upcoming announcement for the annual Member’s meeting and Board election.
Enjoy the snow before it’s gone and I hope to see many of you at the spring meeting,
Brent at Colorado Biathlon Club
