With the recent and upcoming snow, fall mud season has arrived. The Biathlon range will be open for limited use but all carpets and mats have been put away, so we will be back to a “bring your own mat” situation for the rest of the off season.
Colorado Biathlon Club is gearing up for another exciting season of CBC racing, which means it is time to start gathering the many hands it takes to run a successful season. They’re reaching out because the club is in need of more volunteer range and competition officials for our races.
If you’re willing to serve as a range or competition chief, please let them know which dates from the schedule below work best for you:
1/11 (Sa) Sprint (comp official only)
1/12 (Su) Pursuit
2/1 (Sa) Format TBD (range official only)
2/9 (Su) Individual
3/1 (Sa) Sprint (State Championships)
3/2 (Su) Pursuit (State Championships)
Some additional information about the range and competition official roles for those that are new:
- If you’ve been around for a couple seasons, you know what you need to know to take on one of these roles! CBC is also developing training materials and can pair you with a more experienced official to make sure you can get all your questions answered.
- You are still able to compete at the races where you volunteer as range or competition official
– If you volunteer for two or more races, you can race free for the entire season. - The range chief role is a race-day-only role that ensures the range is set up properly in the morning and that live shooting is handled safely during zeroing and racing.
- As a competition chief, you’ll handle tasks like sending race registration announcements, answering race-related questions from members, assigning race waves, overseeing race-day check-in and timing, and finalizing results post-race. It’s a great way to connect with more people in the club and get a deeper understanding of how things run.
- They have two competition chiefs and four range chiefs per race. If you have a preferred partner, let CBC know—they’re happy to accommodate requests.
