Ullr has blessed us with a storm that blanketed the YMCA of the Rockies with the first really good snow of the season. As a result, the first Colorado Biathlon Club race of the year is on! Saturday, December 14th, we will kick off the 2024-2025 biathlon season at Snow Mountain Ranch with a sprint race.
The race will be standard sprint format with three laps of skiing and two rounds of shooting (prone then standing). 6k and 7.5k are standard distances for masters sprint events, but we offer various distances for the race—including appropriate distances for adaptive and youth athletes—and allow you to select which is best for you. As we all know that you missed it over the long summer hiatus, the penalty loop will be in use for this event! You’re welcome.
We are excited to include adaptive athlete categories in this event! Please let us know if you have questions regarding categories or logistics for adaptive biathletes.
Registration opens today, December 1, and will close on Saturday, December 7. As noted in the fall newsletter, this year registration will close one week before the race to allow the competition chiefs more time to prepare start lists. Registration details can be found at: https://www.coloradobiathlon.org/schedule.html.
USBA membership is required for all racers. Before you register, please remember that it is a new biathlon season, and you want to renew your USBA memberships if you plan to race all winter. One day licenses are also available. Please consider renewing your membership/joining the Colorado Biathlon Club, too, as this membership is vital to support our thriving race scene. Save yourself time and sign the year-long CBC waiver, too.
As with all CBC races, a Red Book is required to use a .22 for this event. Club .22 rifles and pellet rifles will be available for use; please be sure to sign up for them during registration if you do not have your own rifle.
We can’t wait to see you out there!
