The primary fundraiser for the Grand Nordic Scholarship fund – the 12th Annual Ranch2Ranch Nordic TREK – Feb 8 and 9 is still available for signup at www.grandnordic.org. Park your car at Granby Ranch Montana Lot, take the 830a or 915a shuttle to SMR start. Or park at Snow Mtn Ranch Nordic Center, register and get your bib, and ski out and back covering a distance you are comfortable with. Wave starts every 20 min spread people out over the 11km course groomed for Classic and Skate. Snowshoers please stay to the side. REMEMBER there is no return shuttle.  The Trek finishes at lift at the top of The East Mtn.  We suggest beginners-intermediates download the lift to return to the base.  Your bib is your ticket down and bibs are returned at the Grand Nordic tent in front of the lodge.  To ski down the Alpine trail Buckaroo among the Alpine skiers can be more dangerous since this is a beginner area.  Some people may want to ski back to SMR –  anyone can climb Sweet Nancy but only more experienced skiers should attempt to ski down it on the return,  particularly if it is glazed and icy. Turn back at the aid station and ski back to SMR or turn around anywhere on the trail. Two aid stations and Bryan Mtn Nordic patrol are on the course for your refreshment and safety.

Posted at both Granby Ranch finish and SMR finish will be a list of winners of drawing prizes donated by SWIX and FISHER. Prizes can be picked up at Granby Ranch.  More details at www.grandnordic.org. Click on the volunteering tab at the top to volunteer.  Call or text 970-887-0547 for questions.

For something different – Feb 9, Granby Ranch is offering the second in their series of three SKIMO uphill races. Feb 15, Devils Thumb Ranch has the next in their Skijoring Clinic series at 11am but you need to bring your own dog!  Feb 15 is the Full Snow Moon ski tour at Devils Thumb 6pm.  Call the activities center for more information.
