SMR CLASSIC RACE IS SATURDAY

Greetings from Grand County!

Here’s a few notes to help you prepare for the Snow Mt Ranch Classic Race.

Registration closes on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 5:59 PM.

Weather:

It is likely going to be very cold, windy and snowing during the event. Plan accordingly.

There is still lodging available at the Y for those that would like to avoid the ski traffic and difficulty driving in the bad weather.

Venue Notes:

– The race will be based out of the “Camper’s Hub” building, just west of the Nordic Center.

-Parking will be at the Nordic center with overflow parking at the ball fields. There will be parking marshals to help direct you.

– We will provide fruit, cookies, hot cocoa as post race refreshment.

– The “Skinny-Ski” café will be open and offering race participants 10% discount for those that would like more substantial nourishment post race.

– There are affordable, quality rooms still available at the Y for this weekend for those that would like to avoid Saturday ski traffic.

– Make sure to return your bib. There will be volunteers at the start finish to collect them.

Course Notes:

-There are two sections that will have two way traffic. These will be clearly marked.

– the 3km and the 7.5km events are 1 lap. The 15km will be two laps of the 7.5km course.

-The course is open though marshals will do their best to direct non-racing skiers to alternative trails.

-The Feed Table will be located in the lap area. This will be a “self feed” station and you can leave a water bottle there with your favorite energy drink. There will be Gatorade and water at the self-feed table for you to refill your water bottle as needed.
