Grand County Nordic Race Series 2025
Great Races in Great Places!
Grand County Nordic Ski Racing is putting on 8 Nordic races, both skate and classic, with long and short course options. This is your chance to participate no matter your age, gender, or ability. There are even kid and family options. Pick your race or participate in the series, progressively increasing your distance to the series final at the Snow Mountain Stampede.
Points will be awarded for each event completed. You may participate in as many or as few events as your schedule permits. Points from all events completed within the category you signed up for will count towards your overall series standing.
Each event will offer a “long course, short course, as well as a 3k junior course (12 and under)”. The Snow Mountain Stampede and the Devil’s Thumb Stagecoach may offer additional distances that won’t be included as “points races” for the series.
Four great partner venues will host the events! This is one of our main fundraisers for youth Nordic programs in Grand County. If you would like to be involved but don’t want to race, you’ll find a link to sign up to volunteer for each race.

Register for the 2025 Grand County Nordic Race Series
Entry fees are non-refundable donations to Grand Nordic youth programs.
Long Course Series
- 15k / 20k / 30k / 50k courses
Short Course Series
- 7.5k / 10k / 15k / 25k courses
Junior Series
- 3k courses (18 and under)
Additional fees: PayPal charges 3.49% + $0.30 per transaction. The registration platform, Webscorer, charges an additional $1 fee per paid entry. So the total fees are 3.49% + $1.30 for each entry. These processing fees will be added to the entry fee paid by the participant.
Registration for each event closes the day prior to race day. There will be no race day registration. The registration fee increases one week prior to the event, so sign up early.
Proceeds to benefit Grand Nordic Club youth Nordic ski scholarship funds!
Points: Points will be awarded for each event completed. You may participate in as many or as few events as your schedule permits.
Categories: Overall Male and Female along with age group categories.
** Entries are non-refundable donations to Grand Nordic Club supporting youth Nordic Ski Scholarships.
** Entries are non-transferable.
** You may sign up through the end of series. However the series price will not be prorated if entered after events have occurred.
** Events that a registrant does not participate will result in a 0 point value being recorded.
Kids and Family Options
• Family/Kids Tour: 1-3k, untimed, Free.
• Junior Races: Everyone races together!

Grand Nordic Skate Race 1 - January 5, 2025
Venue: Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic trails; Race HQ will be in the Camper’s Hub building
Event: Skate, Long Course 15k, Short Course 7.5k, Junior 3k.
Course: Challenging 7.5 km loop that will test your early season fitness!
Registration: Closes 1/4/25 at 6pm. NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION

Snow Mountain Classic - January 11, 2025
Venue: Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic trails; Race HQ will be in the Camper’s Hub building
Event: Classic, Long Course 15km, Short Course 7.5km, Junior 3km
Course: Some long hills that will require pacing, fast descents and maybe a moose of two! The event will be based out of the new “campers hub building” adjacent to the Nordic center.

Grand Nordic Skate Race 2 - January 18, 2025
Venue: Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic trails; Race HQ will be in the Camper’s Hub building
Event: Skate, Long Course 30k, Short Course 15k, Junior 3k.
Course: Look forward to a challenging technical course! The 30km racers will complete 2 laps of a challenging 15km course that includes approximately 1000 feet of climbing per lap. The winning times last year were for males 1:26:40, and females 1:50:52-Quite a benchmark!

Stagecoach Classic - January 25, 2025
Devil’s Thumb Ranch and the Winter Park/Fraser Chamber are happy to present the 9th annual 30km, 15km, and 3k kids classic-only cross country ski race and tour! The event will start and finish at Devil’s Thumb Ranch Resort & Spa. An end of race celebration will be located at Broad Axe Barn with food and beer.

Event: Classic, Long Course 30 k, Short Course 15k, Junior course 3k
Course: Anticipate a fun challenging course! The 30km skiers will do 2 15km laps. The course consists of beautiful rolling terrain. Elite skiers have been known to double pole the whole race. The winning times from last year were male: 1:35:57, and female: 1:54:23. It’s always a “top shelf” experience at DTR. We look forward to seeing you there!

Granby Ranch Skate Race - February 15, 2025
Venue: Nordic trails at Granby Ranch Golf Course; The race HQ will be at the golf club house.
Event: Skate, Long Course 15km, Short Course 7.5km, Junior 3k.
Course: The 15km participants will complete 2 laps of a 7.5km course. The is rolling and technical with lots of little ups and downs and turns. The wining times from last year were male at 39:46, and female 47:55. This course is all about carrying speed through changing terrain. It’s very fast and fun skiing!
Registration: Closes Friday, February 14, 6pm. NO DAY OF EVENT REGISTRATION.

Latigo Skate Race - March 1, 2025

Event: Skate, Long Course 20km, Short Course 10km, Junior 3k.
Course: This will be a challenging and technical course designed by Shawn Scholl- The Big Shooter himself!
Registration: Closes Friday, February 28, 6pm. NO DAY OF EVENT REGISTRATION.

Snow Mountain Stampede - March 8-9, 2025
Skate Races, Saturday, March 8
Venue: Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic trails. Race HQ will be at the Camper’s Hub building.
Event: Skate, Long Course 50km, Short Course 25km, 12.5km (not series eligible), Junior 3km.
Course: Fun, challenging but “doable” 12.5km loop with approximately 400 feet of climbing per lap. The 50km racers will do 4 laps. The long course winning times from last year were male 2:38:42, and the female time of 2:39:01, only 19 seconds from winning overall! An exceptional performance.
Registration: Closes March 7 at 6pm. NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION

Classic Races, Sunday, March 9
Venue: Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic trails. Race HQ will based out of the Camper’s Hub building.
Event: Classic, Long Course 50km, Short Course 25km, 12.5km (not series eligible), Junior 3km.
Course: This is a fun and challenging but “doable” 12.5km loop with approximately 400 feet of climbing per lap. The 50km racers will do 4 laps. The male winner from last year double poled the entire 50km! Long course winning times from last year were male at 2:51:00 (double poling!) and female at 3:53:46.
Registration: Closes March 8 at 6pm. NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION
