Fresh powder!!! and lots of it! …falling down and falling sideways… with more in the forecast, came during the first week of the year. The blessings of winter moisture did not come without a bit of a harsh edge, as swirling gusts closed lifts, obscured roads and topped the chilly gift of fluff with a light, flaky crust.
The soft, quiet blanket can be expected to stay fresh into the weekend, as the temperature pendulum is expected to swing towards the blue side of the thermometer late this week before rising again, as so often has been the case this season, early in the following week. Anticipate good snow conditions with some trail-breaking until enough trail-users (or groomers on the Fraser River Trail, Grand Park and Fraser to Granby trail) have had a chance to get out and pack it down.
