We’re into the heart of our biathlon racing season now and registration for the February 21st *short* individual opened last night. If you’re not familiar with the format, the Individual is the original format and the most different from the other disciplines. It’s a four-bout shooting event, but in the order of prone-stand-prone-stand, that places a premium on shooting with costly time penalties instead of circling the penalty loop. It’s also traditionally the longest ski distance, but this year we’re trying something new by contesting the Short Individual. For novice and youth up through the U15 age group, there’s no difference to the full Individual, but all other age groups can rejoice over shorter ski distance.
